Key Components of the hCG Diet

A fellow of the American Board of Otolaryngology and the American Academy of Otolaryngic Allergy, Chicago native Dr. Angelo Consiglio owns a private practice located in Marathon, Florida, just north of Key West. In addition to his responsibilities at Allergy Ear Nose & Throat, Inc., Angelo Consiglio, MD, is also trained in weight loss management involving the use of human chorionic gonadotropin (hCG). Here is a brief overview of some elements involved in the hCG diet.

Food requirements – On the hCG diet, individuals are allowed to eat two meals per day, with each meal containing one serving each of bread, fruit, protein, and a vegetable. The use of butter or oil is not allowed.

hCG injections – Designed to help raise the body’s hormone levels, hCG injections also prevent the loss of muscle. This is important, as muscle loss slows metabolism, which can cause individuals to quickly gain back all the weight they have lost.

Physician oversight – Experts advise that any individuals wishing to adopt the hCG diet should be closely monitored by a physician. Physicians not only administer the hCG injections but they also monitor progress and the individual’s transition back to consuming a higher-calorie diet.
